TO THE INTERVAL SITE! |
Spend a moment learning about
intervals in music.
Intervals
in music allow us to have a regulated form of notation.
Western music has evolved to a
selection of skips or distances between notes that allow us to predict
how our music sill sound. By starting at a root note, we can skip
between intervals to construct a melodic line.
Choose the interval and example

By using
accidentals, we can alter the size of the interval ( either up or down
) which in turn will change it's sound. We can chnge a major (M)
to a minor (m) simply by shortening
the upper note by 1/2 step. In the following example you will see
only Major or Perfect notes. No minor intervals will be presented.
Below you will
see written examples of Major or Perfect intervals.
